Back to School...fall preparation is for our furry family members too!

Fall has arrived, and while it is a busy time with back to school preparation, it's important to be mindful of how the seasonal change can affect our pets too!

1) Does your pet have seasonal allergies?  Fall is often a trigger season for pets with environmental allergens- the dust and allergens from harvest, leaves and the grass can trigger a flare-up.  Discussed preventative options with one of our experienced Veterinarians to minimize your pet's irritation.

2) Viral infections: more time spent with other dogs at the dog park, daycare or social events can increase the opportunity for upper respiratory infections (kennel cough), eye infections and gastrointestinal bugs.  Make sure your pet remains current with their vaccinations and parasite prevention!

3) Ticks & Mosquitoes: while tick activity for our common Dermacentor sp. in Saskatchewan has slowed down, ticks are still present along with pesky mosquitoes.  If you are traveling outside of SK to heartworm endemic areas, it's important to keep up with your preventative medications through the fall season!

As always, if you have any additional questions or concerns regarding your pet's health, reach out to us at 306-789-0918 to schedule a consultation and examination with our experienced veterinary team.
