Cold Weather & Your Pet's Mobility

Unfortunately it's not even Halloween yet and already we have snow on the ground here in the Queen City...and it looks like it might be sticking around!  The colder temperatures and ice can affect your four legged family member's activity levels and mobility.  For patients who already have underlying arthritis and generalized muscle loss, the cold and damp can make their aches and pains worse as well as making exercise more uncomfortable.  Here are some tips to help alleviate these symptoms and improve their comfort:

1.  Schedule a wellness exam with one of our experienced Veterinarians- this allows for hands-on assessment of your pet's overall body and muscle condition score.  It also allows for discussion about concurrent health concerns and diagnostic options for your pet.

2.  Nutrition & Joint Supplements:  high quality balanced nutrition and using daily joint supplements can make a BIG difference.  Omega-3 oils are also natural anti-inflammatories that assist with brain and heart health as well.

3. Laser Therapy & Acupuncture - ask our Veterinarians if your pet is an appropriate candidate for laser and/or acupuncture treatment.  Both are natural methods of reducing pain and inflammation as well as rebalancing the body as a whole.

4. Librela & Solensia Monthly Injections- has your pet already been diagnosed with osteoarthritis?  Discuss this game-changing monthly injection that works to reduce pain safely, even if your pet does have underlying liver or kidney disease.

Our Veterinary team is always here to help with many more options and suggestions to maintain your pet's quality of life and keep them moving as comfortably as possible through the winter season!
